Delwyn’s Obituary
On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, surrounded by family, Delwyn Lester Anderson, loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 87.
He was born on January 6, 1933, in Norquay, Saskatchewan to Clarence and Edna (Larson) Anderson.
Delwyn received his education at North Willow Grove School, Covenant Bible Institute, and Briercrest Christian Academy. He married Audrey Ayers on October 1, 1955. They were blessed with four children and a loving marriage. After Audrey’s passing in February 2000, he found love again and married Barbara Erickson on July 1, 2003.
He had a very strong Christian faith that informed all aspects of his life. He served in many capacities in the Norquay Covenant Church, including Sunday School Superintendent. He leaves a legacy of sharing his faith in practical ways like giving rides to children to church for Sunday school.
Delwyn was a hard worker. Alongside his main work of farming for more than 40 years in partnership with his brother Lloyd and with the guidance of their father Clarence, he enjoyed logging, road construction and maintenance. He loved hunting, motorcycling, snowmobiling and playing hockey.
Delwyn was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Edna; first wife, Audrey; brother, Les; and brother-in-law, Ed Andersen.
Left to cherish his memory and celebrate his life are his wife, Barbara; children: Dwayne (Lori), Leora (Duncan), Marlene (Bob), and Karen (Erwin); grandchildren (in order of parents): Doug (Crystal), Tracy (Wade), Tim (Bobbie), Colby, and Brinley (Darren); Jesse (Joy), Sabina (Truitt), and Sheena (Andrew); Sidney (Jessica), Natalie (Nigel), Calvin (Deb), and Christian (Tessa); and Danika (Dylan), Elijah (Madi), and Landon (Katy); 27 great-grandchildren; siblings: Fern, Lloyd (Doris), sister-in-law: Kathy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In Delwyn’s honour, a Public Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2020 from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK. A Private Graveside Service will follow at the Norquay Covenant Cemetery with Pastor Arden Gustafson officiating. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Covenant Church Trellis Foundation, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Delwyn Anderson.
