Obituary
It is with great love the family announces the passing of Dean Taylor, which occurred at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Friday, May 1st, 2020. Born 1927 in New York City, he was the son of the late of Emily Gretchen Taylor and John Taylor. Dean had a great passion for writing and theatre, and he continued writing plays until his final years of life. He co-founded the ‘Kings Shorts’ at Kings Theatre in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, and his plays have been featured across Canada, the USA and San Miguel, Mexico. And in 2016 he was given the Volunteer of the Year Award from Theatre Nova Scotia. His boisterous laughter, quick wit, and gentle spirit earned him friends wherever he went. He was proactive for equal rights well ahead of its time, and he delighted in desserts of all kinds, especially ice cream.
Dean is survived by his loving partner Doreen Parsons of Saint John, New Brunswick; son Nicholas Taylor; daughters Shealyn Jackson, Abigail Taylor, and Zoe Taylor; grandchildren Sophie, Liam, and Hannah; special friend Linda Doucette; as well as his many close friends and colleagues. Besides his parents, Dean was predeceased by his late wife Anne Campbell of Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). At this time, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Dean may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
