ALBERT “MARK” CURTIS
March 19, 1952 – June 2, 2020
Albert Mark Curtis passed away early in the morning of June 2, 2020 at the age of 68. He joins his father Albert Curtis in watching over his family. Mark Curtis is survived by his wife Charlene, his children Nathan (Holly), Ashley, Natasha, Alycia, and Allisan, and by his mother (Pauline Curtis) and siblings Pat, Les (Cathy), Brenda (Ron Linford), Susan (George Beese), Christina, and Tina, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Known as Dr. Mark while working as a Chiropractor, his life’s goal was to better the lives of those he treated. His smile and sense of humour stayed with him throughout his life and will be a fond memory of everyone who knew him. It was not uncommon for him to tell the same joke 50 times a day to different patients and still laugh just as hard the 50th time he told it.
Mark Curtis had many passions but the one that stands out is ballroom dance. He was the captain of the ballroom dance team when in university and competed in Europe with his highest place being third. His daughters always looked forward to dancing with dad and would keep him on the dance floor all night.
Though he could not carry a tune unless someone else was singing right into his ear, he greatly loved music and singing especially. His favourite pass-time was to listen to his children as they sang and played their instruments. He was their number one fan. He had many golf buddies and attempted to instill a love of golf into his children – which didn’t work as well as he would like but gave us a lot of fond memories. He was successful in passing on his love of skiing and many a happy day were spent out on the ski hill – first with dad teaching the kids how to ski by running up and down the ski hill after them, and then by reveling in their fearlessness as they took the harder trails.
We will miss his bright eyes and happy smile but we know that he is telling all his jokes to anyone who will listen and dancing the night away.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be a private Graveside Service on Saturday June 6, 2020. The Service will be available to view online at www.salmonandsons.ca the following day.
