Obituary
It is with broken hearts the family of Cory Wirtanen announce his passing, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday July 26th, 2020. Born in Campbellton NB on September 18th, 1974, he is the son of Maxwell Wirtanen and the late Marlene (Dow) Wirtanen. Cory was a loving son, brother and uncle. He graduated from Sugarloaf Senior High School in 1992. In his earlier days, he played hockey, later becoming a dedicated super fan of the Chicago Blackhawks. Many hockey games were watched with his Dad as they both cheered on their favorite team. Cory was a big kid at heart, he enjoyed reading Comic Books and collected them as well. PS4 and time with his niece and nephews always made him smile. Those who knew and loved him will miss him forever. Along with his Father Max; Cory is survived by his only sister and brother-in-law Brandi and Derek Furlotte of Saint John; niece Kailyn (Bailey), nephews Michael (Tiffani) and Connor; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will also be missed by his special dog Tazer. He was predeceased by his mother Marlene in September of 2018.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fund-y Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). By request, no visitation or service will be held at this time. A private family burial will take place at a later date at the Campbellton Rural Cemetery.
Donations in Cory’s memory may be made to the SPCA, Bobby’s Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to extend a big thanks to the nurses and staff in Level 1 SICU and Bobby’s Hospice for the passionate care he received while in their care.
