Obituary for Corry VanHooft
Died peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Vision Nursing Home, Sarnia. Born in Oirschot, the Netherlands the daughter of Francis and Maria VandeSchoot, Cornelia “Corry” VanHooft, formerly of Wyoming, was in her 87th year. She was predeceased by her husband Ed VanHooft (2019). She will be missed by her children, John (Susan) VanHooft, Gerry (Kim) VanHooft, Joanne (Hank) Hoeksema, Bets (Bill) Gray, and Ed (Monique) VanHooft. Corry was a proud Grandma of John (Genny) VanHooft, Andrea VanHooft, Nicole (Ryan) Sharpe, Michael (Samantha) VanHooft, Adam (Megan Moore) VanHooft, Cheryl (Steve Thorne) Leystra, Janice (Kevin Somes) Leystra, Krista (Kerry) Mall, Ashley (Joe Belliveau) Hoeksema, Melissa (Craig) Matthews, Lisa Ladouceur, Stephen (Kourtney O’Connor) Gray, Brittany (Erik Olson) VanHooft, Danielle VanHooft, and Emily VanHooft and Great Grandma Pizza to Savanah, Hayley, Alexander, Cohen, Liam, Hudson, Vanessa, Olivia, Taylor, Leena, Priya, Grayson, and Bodhi. She is the sister of Jane (Bill) Harmeyer, the late John (Annie) VandeSchoot, Joanne (the late John) VandenBroek, the late Mary (the late Frank) VanderBurgt. Margaret (the late Murray) Bryce, Jean (the late Gord) Richardson,Jo (Bill) MacKenzie Fran (the late Doug) Aitken, Casey (Jenny) VandeSchoot. Corry was the matriarch, staying home to raise her family, and later showed her love to her grandchildren through her many sleepovers. She loved entering contests, and as a result she won many trips to destinations all over the world. She was an accomplished baker, making birthday and wedding cakes, but was most known for her famous dutch cakes. A private funeral service will be streamed live from Needham-Jay Funeral Home Facebook page on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
