Charles Joseph « Charlie » MacGillivray
1954-2020
Charlie passed peacefully on November 9, 2020
with his brother, John Dan by his side at Kings Regional
Rehabilitation Centre, Waterville, NS. Born in MacArras Brook,
Antigonish County, on February 21, 1954 he was a son of the late Angus
Hugh and Mary Catherine (MacLeod) MacGillivray. Charlie grew up in
MacArras Brook, Antigonish County with his eight siblings. He is
survived by his siblings, John Dan (Annette), New Minas; Colin, New
Glasgow; Lorretta MacGillivray, Antigonish; Margie (Jeff) Kaplan,
Arvada, Colorado; Mary Ann MacGillivray, Victoria, BC; Neil (Joyce),
Brierly Brook; Billy (Shirley), MacArras Brook; many nieces, nephews,
grand nieces and grand nephews. Besides his parents, he was
predeceased by a sister, Terri (Bruce) Bishop. Charlie loved and was
loved by his family and everyone who knew him. He could accomplish
anything he set his mind to. He was a lobster fisherman for a number
of years and always had a love for the ocean. He was an avid softball
player with the Arisaig Fence Busters. Charlie was witty and funny,
always having a mischievous smile for everyone he knew. Cremation has
taken place. There will be no service. At a later date family and
friends will gather for a celebration of life. A heartfelt thank you
to the doctors, nurses and personal care staff of the Sunset Community
Centre, Pugwash, NS as well as the Kings Regional Rehabilitation
Centre, Springdale and MacArthur Units who provided such good care.
Memorial donations in memory of Charlie may be made to the Brain
Injury Association of NS, Canadian Diabetes Association or the ALS
Society of NB and NS. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the
White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line
