Cecil Earl Jennings
1933-2020
Jennings, Cecil Earl, Masstown, passed away peacefully on
Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the age of 87. Born in Masstown, March
13, 1933, he was the son of the late Earl and Minnie Jennings. Cecil
was driven by his passion and love for his family and building on the
legacy started by his grandfather, Stephen Jennings. Through
Cecil’s hard work, passion, and mentorship to his son Glen,
and grandson Blake, Bayview Poultry Farms has grown and is thriving as
a « Fifth Generation » family farm. At the same time, Cecil
was always so proud of the accomplishments of each of his children and
grandchildren. Cecil was active in the community and a proud volunteer
of the Onslow-Belmont Fire Brigade for many years. Cecil was a
kind-hearted, family and community loving man, always there to help
friends, family, or anyone else needing some support. He loved being
with friends and family and could often be found leaning against a
vehicle in the barnyard, chatting with friend
Cecil will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 63 years,
Doris (Dottie); sister, Helen (Roy) Kingston; daughter Linda McGraw,
sons Brian (Tracey) and Glen; grandchildren, Blake (Rebecca),
Stephanie, Shelby, Mathew, Craig, and Amy; and other nephews, nieces,
and cousins.
Cecil was predeceased by his brother Lloyd, son Douglas, and
son-in-law Terry McGraw.
No visitation by family request. Funeral Service will be held
on Sunday, Nov 1, 2020 at 2pm at the Pumpkin Patch Barn, 962 Shore
Road, Masstown, NS, with Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating.
Due to Covid-19 and Public Health requirements, a maximum of
200 people will be permitted to attend and masks are required and also
please practice social distancing. Also please, register with one of
the funeral directors upon arrival is a must and dress is casual and
weather appropriate. Arrangements are under the direction of the
Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. In lieu of
flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit
of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro or to a charity of
choice would be greatly appreciated. Burial will take place at a later
date in Folly Village, Glenholme. The family expresses sincere thanks
for the wonderful support to the staff of the Colchester East Hants
Health Centre, with a special thank you to all of the doctors and
nurses in the Intensive Care and Palliative Care units. Private
