MELE, Caterina
Passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on May 12, 2020. Born in San Giovanni in Fiore, Italy on April 18, 1931 to the late Rosario and Guisippina Mancina (daughter-in-law to the late Luigi and Angela Mele). Loving wife for 66 years to Giovanni Mele and much loved mother to Louie G. Mele (Antonietta), Angela Kaschalk (Tom) and Ross Mele (Florence). Caring Grandmother to Gian (Kat), Laura, Michael (Pamela) Stephanie and Patrick. Loving sister to Barberina Astorino (Luigi). Sister-in-law to the late Maria Bonasso (late Salavtore), the late Saverio Mele (Lina), the late Isabel Sciarrotta (late Frank), the late Guiseppe Mele (Rosina) and the late Albina Pignanelli (Antonio). Caterina will also be missed by many cherished nieces, nephews, family, friends and neighbours.
Our mom enjoyed being at home and having her family come over for the famous Sunday meals. We are grateful for her love, care, and strength. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Demarco, the PSW’s and nurses from Paramed and the support from the Erie St. Clair LIHN. Our mom was grateful for the comfort given to her every day.
All services entrusted to Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd E., Windsor, 519-253-7234. A private family visitation and service have taken place. Entombment at Heavenly Rest. A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Angela Merici Church at a later date. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario has instituted the following directive: « The new maximum number of people who can be at a funeral home at one time (not including staff) is 10 or fewer. This pertains to the entire funeral home. »
