Brady, Carolyn Ruth (nee Sabey) – Carolyn (May 18, 1943 – March 13, 2020) passed away peacefully on March 13 at the St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre in Cornwall, Ontario. Predeceased by her parents James Max Sabey and Phyllis Ruth Sabey (nee Deacon), longtime residents of Mountain Township, Ontario. Beloved wife of John Robert Dale Brady, of Cornwall, Ontario. Dear mother of son, John Robert (Daile) of North Bay, Ontario; daughter, Jennifer Ruth Sachedina (Aamer, deceased), of Queensville, Ontario; and son, William James (Heidi) of Alpine, Utah. Carolyn’s generous and caring spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind her brothers, Merv Sabey (Linda) of Prescott, Ontario; and Ken Sabey (Betty-Ann) of Kelowna, B.C. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Delainey, Ashleigh, Kathryn, Hayden, Rebekah, Robyn, Julian, Jenna, Ainsley, William, and James. One grandson, John “Jack” Robert Brady, predeceases her. A descendant of early Latter-day Saint pioneers in Southern Alberta, Carolyn grew up in Magrath. She had many positive, formative experiences in her life, one of which was living in Germany with her family while her father was stationed at a Canadian Air Force Base during her high school years. Trained at the University of Alberta, Carolyn spent her early career working as a public health nurse in Montréal, and retired from nursing after twenty-five years of service at Cornwall General Hospital, where she developed many close friends and acquaintances.
Special thanks to the caring and compassionate staff at St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre who cared for Carolyn during the last years of her life, and to Dr. Subhash Patel, who oversaw her care in such a courteous manner.
Due to the current threat of COVID-19, burial at White Lake Cemetery in Ivanhoe, Ontario, and a memorial service in Cornwall, Ontario, will take place at a future date. Invitations to the service will be sent to family and close friends at an appropriate time. Donations in Carolyn’s honour to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be most appreciated. Online condolences may be shared at www.wilsonfuneralhome.ca.
