Obituary for
Caroline Lorraine Weber
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Caroline Weber of St. Albert, AB, formerly of Fox Creek, on April 26, 2020 at the age of 73 years.
Caroline is remembered by her daughters, Lorinda Brinton (Kenny DeCommer) and Ronica (Todd) DeCiccio; grandsons, Owen (age 13 years) and Carter (age 11 years) DeCiccio; brother, Bob (Lil) Weber; and many more close relatives and friends. Predeceased by her parents, John and Emma Weber; and sister, Annie (Clarence) Wilde.
Caroline grew up on a farm north of Southey, SK. She taught at many Saskatchewan and Alberta schools before moving to La Crete where she met and married Chuck Brinton. After traveling the world, the two settled in Carstairs, where they made their home. Throughout 20 years of teaching, Caroline touched the lives of many students and fellow educators.
In the late ‘90’s, she began a new chapter of change, following an empty nest, illness, and divorce. Caroline moved to Didsbury, venturing into new hobbies, including yoga and drumming; finding new friends and support along the way.
Always ready for a change and embracing her upcoming role as a Gramma, in 2005 Caroline picked up her life and moved to Fox Creek. She played an integral role in the daily lives of Ronica’s family, especially with her grandsons. Caroline embraced Fox Creek as her new home where she again made new friends and helped many students in her role supporting reading programs. A recent move to St. Albert was followed by a trip to Belgium, where she caught a glimpse into the new life being experienced by Lorinda and her partner.
Caroline was a proud 5-time breast cancer survivor. She worked to overcome various ailments, including heart difficulties and a bad fall. She faced lifelong health battles that resulted in her early retirement from the teaching profession and ultimately her passing.
Caroline’s hobbies included softball, curling, walking, sewing, gardening, playing cards, listening to music, travel, live theatre and visiting with friends. Her philosophy for life was to live in the present and take each day as it comes. She always acknowledged and appreciated all those who supported her. She will be sadly missed. Her family’s heartfelt thoughts go out to everyone whose lives she touched.
A Memorial Service is being planning for a later time, where the family can be together with Caroline’s friends and community, to honor the life of this proud and strong woman.
In lieu of floral tributes, donations would be appreciated to the Alberta Cancer Foundation- designated for Research, #710, 10123 – 99 Street, Edmonton, AB T5J 3H1 or www.albertacancer.ca/donate.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Caroline Lorraine
