Obituary
Brydon “Buddy” John MacDiarmid
1958 – 2020
Brydon “Buddy” John MacDiarmid, husband of Susan (Jones) MacDiarmid, passed away at his home on the early morning of December 29th, 2020 at the age of 62.
Born in Napan, New Brunswick, he was the son of Helen (Gilliss) and the late John MacDiarmid. “Buddy” was a hardworking Farmer, and was extensively involved in Napan rural community life. This included involvement with the Napan Agricultural Show, 4-H Club, and the former Napan Dart Club. He was also a member of the Carmel United Church, Napan.
Buddy was a simple man. A man of few words and some strategically placed swear words. Buddy could be counted on to provide some very colorful advice no matter what the problem. The advice provided was always honest, and usually right, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear.
Buddy was a strong man who stood as a rock on the outside, but was one of the most caring and giving people you could meet. Anyone who needed a hand could find that from Buddy, and it was rare he ever called in a favour. He took care of those he loved at any cost to him. He loved his family unconditionally and did whatever it took to provide for them. He could almost always be found at the barn with coffee in hand, cursing some godforsaken animal that just would not do as he wanted, or fixing whatever needed fixing. His family, beloved friends and farm were his everything.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue; son, Kenny (Vicki) MacDiarmid of Ashern, MB; daughters: Amanda (Shawn) Jenkins of Hardwicke, Stephanie MacDiarmid (Martin Comeau) of Black River Bridge, Samantha Read (Kirk) of Sackville, NB, and Stacy Jones (Alex Snowdon) of Port Elgin, NB; mother, Helen MacDiarmid of Napan; sisters: Debbie Hachey (Peter) of Salmon Beach, NB, Beth Sanford (Keith) of Napan, NB, Beverly Bourdage of Napan, NB, Doris (Dwayne) Harris of Middle Sackville, NS, Natalie Nowlan of Napan, and Tammy Dolliver (John) of Stettler, AB; brothers: Robert (Brenda) MacDiarmid, and Dale (Brenda) MacDiarmid, both of Napan. He is also survived by his grandchildren who meant the world to him: Bradon, Jordyn, Brooklyn, Ashton, Alyssa, Alexis, Oaklyn, Kenzie, Brody, Bradyn, Madi, Dylan, and Lily.
A public visitation will take place on Sunday, January 3rd, 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM, and on Monday, January 4th, 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM. A PRIVATE funeral service will take place on Tuesday, January 5th, at 11 AM, at the Carmel United Church, officiated by The Reverend David Allan, and The Reverend Charlene Maguire MacKnight. As per COVID-19 regulations, masks must be continuously worn at the funeral home and inside the church, and physical distancing must be adhered to. Attendance must be registered upon entrance to the facilities. Interment will be held at later date in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
