Beazer, Bryan Peter “Beaz”
March 21, 1942 – December 10, 2020
Bryan passed away peacefully at Ruddy Shenkman Hospice, Kanata, with his beloved, devoted wife Doris Alexa Eckland (Jacques) by his side. Born to the late Virginia & Leslie Beazer, Bryan is survived by daughter Kimberly, son Roger, grandson Bryer Clancy, brother Robert Gordon & sister Belle Beazer. Predeceased by beloved wife Janet (Webber), sister Joanne Dewar, brothers Ronald & Bill and nephew Steven Brent. Respected & much loved “Uncle Bryan” to nieces Cathy Jane, Linda, Wendy, Leslie, Janet, Jackie, Jenny and nephews Bob, Bill, John, James, Ronald & many great nieces & nephews. Much loved special friend to John (Victoria) & Emily Eckland, Anne Marie, Kyle & Blake Hart and David (Julie) & Abby Edgar. Fondly remembered & loved by many friends near and far.
There are no words to fully describe this wonderful, knowledgeable, intellectual & very complex guy. Outgoing, friendly, full of fun, mixed with a multitude of mischief, Bryan was the epitome of warmth, wit & charm. One could meet him for a short while & feel as if you had known him a lifetime.
Know as a man who “never minced his words”, Bryan was a person of profound openness and honesty who showed great compassion & caring for family, friends, the environment, the world & all those persons & creatures in it.
Bryan had many passions but reading, music, & fitness topped the list. He knew & loved music in every genre & described himself as a “Gym rat”. He was on the RCN boxing team and later took up Martial Arts. While employed at Carleton U for 8 years, he was well known for instructing early a.m. aerobics classes all “decked out” in his fancy, tailor-made spandex.
In 1959, fueled by his quest for adventure & learning, Bryan joined the RCN at the tender age of 17 and served five years. Stationed in Halifax, Bryan sailed on the HMCS Nootka & HMCS Bonaventure “to see the World”. He was fiercely proud of his Canadian heritage and honored to have served his country.
In 1973, with only a Grade 8 education and his training & engineering knowledge he had acquired in the RCN, Bryan applied & was accepted into (the “slow learners” class) Queen’s University, Kingston. Known as “the Old Man in the class”, he was infamous for his outstanding wit, humour, pranks and above all his superior class leadership.
In 1977, Bryan proudly achieved his life-long goal of graduation from Queen’s with a BASc (Applied Science/Mechanical Engineering) which set him on a path to rewarding & challenging teaching & engineering positions in Canada & Bermuda. In 2012, Bryan ended his career at Bruce Nuclear, Kincardine, ON & AECL, Chalk River, ON.
Bryan will be forever loved & remembered always as a man who showed great love & compassion for family & friends, one who inspired others “to reach for the moon” to achieve their goals, and a master raconteur who always “lifted you up” by bringing a smile to your face and a chuckle to your soul.
Bryan’s “Celebration of Life” to be held at a later date when Covid has been conquered & it is safe to gather.
