We announce the death on October 30, 2020 of Brian Hyacinth de Freitas. Brian was born August 14, 1936 in Colonarie, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
He was blessed with 2 children, his ‘boys’ Steven Brian de Freitas and Wayne Andrew de Freitas (married to Amanda de Freitas) and 5 grandchildren (Alexandra, Paisleyanne, Duncan, Malcolm and Torrance) Brian lived in Richmond Hill with his beloved wife of 26 years Angela Gonsalves-de Freitas.
Brian lived an amazing life, filled with many stories of his years as a young man growing up in St. Vincent and in British Guyana from 1954 – 1961. Many of his closest friends in life were those he made in Guyana, and he always kept in touch with them and visited when he could. In 1961 he then moved to Toronto, Canada and worked at a few different jobs but always made a great impact on those around him who loved to listen to his stories, and his teachings. He was very well-versed in the Bible and would often quote many verses when the situation called for it. Brian was passionate when it came to singing, and to song and often used to fill the entire house with his baritone voice on a weekend. He had a voracious love of reading and for language, always taking an opportunity to teach those around him new words and their meaning. Brian was also an classic movie buff and could tell you every aspect of film trivia. For those that knew him, knew they could often find him sitting comfortably on a chair completing a crossword puzzle in record time and with minimal effort.
Appreciation is expressed to our Father’s physicians and his personal support workers at Resthaven Long Term Care facility in Aurora throughout the years.
