Blaine Maxwell passed away peacefully after a brave and courageous battle with cancer on December 24th, 2020 in Victoria, British Columbia at age 61. Blaine was born on June 29th, 1959 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
He was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Joyce, and his brother-in-law Carter Newson. He was a loving husband , father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his wife of 37 years, Beverly; daughter, Sarah (Jeremy Stow) and son, Bradley (Sarah), Campbell River; his granddaughter Georgia Stow and grandson Clayton; brother, Darrell (Annie) and sister, Heather (Hal) West; mother and father-in-law Steven and Debra Newson; nieces and nephews, Chad (Samantha) West, Ryan (Melissa) West, Jason (Elise), Lindsey (Lukas), Madaline and William Newson; sister-in-law, Anita Newson and brother-in-law, Daniel (Rebecca) Newson. He will be dearly missed by many of his close friends from coast to coast.
Blaine spent his childhood in Upper Sackville, NS. He attended Maxwell school in his early years before graduating from Sackville High. Blaine married Beverly in 1983 in Bedford, NS. It was at this time that he started his career in IT Service Management. Blaine, with Bev by his side, started the first of his adventures by heading off to Yellowknife, NWT. Shortly after the birth of their first child, they returned to the Maritimes where they raised their family. Blaine’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to open a nature store in Moncton, NB. During this time, he completed his MBA from Université de Moncton. His adventurous spirit led Blaine to Victoria in 2015; closer to his children and grandchildren where he was able to enjoy the outdoors year-round.
Blaine was known for his warm spirit, kind and cheerful outlook. He loved meeting new people, and had a genuine interest in chatting and learning about everyone. Blaine had a ceaseless curiosity about the world around him. He was an automotive enthusiast and loved exploring the outdoors and nature. Blaine enjoyed spending his free time travelling the world just as much as he enjoyed exploring close to home with his wife, children and grandchildren.
