Obituary of Bill Reddick
With very heavy hearts we are sad to announce the passing of William Joseph (Bill) Reddick on October 1st 2020, who died peacefully at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance at the age of 63.
As a lover of the endless beauty and art which surrounds us in life, Bill was known for his expansive wealth of knowledge and interests on many topics (including music and sports), along with his gentle kindness toward nature, and his perpetual desire to always connect with the human condition- whether it be to listen or talk, to share a laugh and a story, or a beer and a smoke with anyone.
Bill knew exactly how to enjoy the lighter, simple and fun side of life, and knew how the power of good food and good music (especially rock n roll and the blues) brought people together like no other. He spent many lovely years attending shows and concerts in the 70s and 80s with his wife Diane and many friends, with so many stories that came along with it. He loved to read and be current on life, and always had something funny or interesting to say about life’s simple happenings. Bill was through and through a family man, and he loved his children Patrick and Emily deeply. Bill’s positive energy, infectious kindness, caring attitude and quirky humorous character will certainly be missed by many.
After attending St.Clair College in Chatham for Journalism, he enjoyed 27 years at the Chatham Daily News as a news editor, news reporter, sports reporter and photographer (where he was known as Bull), and another 10 great years at Teksavvy where he was highly revered by his coworkers and friends.
He is survived by his wife Diane (Cartier), loving children Patrick (Ronan) Reddick and Emily (Josh) Reddick; brother David (Becky) Reddick, sister Anne Reddick and Uncle Al (Al) Joyce, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Joseph and Mary Reddick and in-laws Robert and Kathleen Cartier.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life service for Bill will be held in the spring.
Online condolences may be left for the family and donations made in memory of Bill to Canadian Wildlife Federation or any charity of your choice through the funeral home website (www.mckinlayfuneralhome.com).
