Obituary for Bill Park
William Stewart Park
December 7, 1946 – October 9, 2020
Peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday at his home in Plympton-Wyoming, William “Bill”
Stewart Park – Husband, father, grandfather, teacher, merchant, friend.
Gone too soon at 73 after a 12 year journey with prostate cancer. In his younger years he was very involved in the Petrolia community – President of Petrolia Lions, organizer and chairman of Petrolia B.I.A., and C.E.E. Hospital Board member.
Bill enjoyed travel, and visited both Canadian coasts, England, Germany, Hawaii, Florida, Arizona, and Cuba (9 times). And of course, he was a car enthusiast from his first Ford Model A to many Minis, a couple Jaguars, and then his 1955 Austin-Healey 100, which he restored and enjoyed for 40 years.
He will be missed his most wonderful and loving wife Laurel, his children Christine (Brad) Hollingsworth, Jim (Tara) Park, grandchildren (all of whom he enjoyed watching grow) Allison, Erica, Carter, Nathan, McKenzie as well step-children and grandchildren Brad, Brooke, Riley, and Justin Weaver, Sheryl (Mike) Burd, and Brandon, and great-grandson Carter Burd. Due to Laurel’s indomitable positive outlook, and support from his children, he claimed the last ten years were the best of his life with many, many wonderful memories. Visitation will be held in the morning of Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Needham-Jay Funeral Home, 4059 Petrolia Line, Petrolia. Due to COVID restrictions, please follow the link to sign up for a time. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Cancer.ca) or the VON (von.ca).
