Obituary
Sunday, October 11th, 2020 at Douglas Campbell Lodge, Portage la Prairie, Betty Dromun, widow of the late Albert Dromun, passed away at the age of 85 years.
Betty was born along with her twin brother Bob on June 12th, 1935. After completing her grade 10, she took a business course and went on to work first at the MacDonald Air Base until it closed and then Southport Air Base. On October 20th, 1956 she married Albert Dromun and they farmed in Rossendale until they retired to Portage in 1994.
Bety spent many years teaching piano and voice both in Portage and out in her home in Rossendale. She was an active church member in Rossendale where she directed a children’s choir for several years. Trinity United Church enjoyed having her in their choir for a time as well.
Over the years, Betty became quite the crafter, sewing or knitting lots of critters as they became known.
After moving to Portage, Betty became a member of the Fort La Reine Museum Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered at the Museum as a Tour Guide.
Taking over the task for an Aunt and Uncle, Betty spent 15 years completing and having published a Tufford Family History of her mother’s family going back to the early 1700’s to 2008. This was a huge undertaking resulting in a 270 page book which was not even near being done – but she had to quit somewhere!
Predeceased by her parents William and Laura Beam, her husband in 2012, her sister Audrey and brother-in-law Don Bond, and twin brother Bob Beam. Left to remember her is her sister Carla Beam and brother-in-law Bruce McLennan, sister-in-law Gail Bean and many nieces and nephews. Betty and Al enjoyed lots of special times with these nieces and nephews. They made memories to last a lifetime!
Rest In Peace Betts!
No formal Funeral Service will be held. A private family gathering has already taken place.
