Beth Darlene Anderson March 13 2020

Anderson, Beth Darlene – On February 29th, 2020, Beth Darlene Anderson passed away peacefully in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Winnipeg on April 24th, 1951, she was predeceased by her husband, Doug Mattka. Beth was a daughter of the late William Gordon and Muriel Margaret Grace (Burnett) Moxham of Oakville, MB.
She is survived by her children, Karen Strong (Kenny Mansfield) and Kori Snyder; grandchildren, Adam, Darian, Sasha, Desiree, Trinity; and great-grandchild Damon, all of Dartmouth. Also grieving her loss are granddaughters, Samantha, of Winnipeg, MB and Kimberley, Dartmouth and their children, David and Luna. She is survived by her siblings, Ron (Marcia) Moxham, Port Coquitlam, BC; Margaret (Ken) Orton, Portage la Prairie, MB; nieces, nephews and extended family members. She also leaves behind Kenny, her significant other who meant the world to her.
Beth graduated from Red River Community College as an LPN in 1975, completing her practicum at St. Boniface Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse for 38 years. During her career, she worked in Canada’s frozen North in Oxford House, also at the Manitoba Developmental Centre in Portage la Prairie and she officially retired from Douglas Campbell Lodge, a personal care home for the elderly, also in Portage la Prairie. Beth also completed military service as a supply technician in 13th Field Battery in Portage la Prairie.
Beth loved to be active and over the years, she played hockey, curled, played ball, and figure skated. She had a variety of hobbies, collecting many treasures over the years including depression glass and cookie jars. Beth loved thrifting of all kinds. She often said that she was «born in a bargain basement.»
She enjoyed crafts and painting, using encaustic wax painting and oil painting as techniques. She loved to read, play cards, garden, camp, and travel.
Beth’s family owes a debt of gratitude to the medical team on the Fourth Floor, 4 West of Dartmouth General Hospital for their kindness and compassion during her illness and passing. They also give thanks to Rev. Jason and Missy Cole for their spiritual guidance during this difficult time. Finally, appreciation to family and friends for their calls, texts, prayers, meals and visits throughout Mom’s illness. It means more to us than you know.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in Regal Heights Baptist Church on March 21st at 11am. All who knew Beth and/or the family are welcome to attend. Family flowers only.
