Maltby, Beatrice Eileen (née Evans) December 15,1919 – October 21, 2020
Beatrice passed peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday October 21,2020 at Bayfield Manor in Kemptville, Ontario. Beatrice was predeceased by her husband Joseph Maltby, her parents, Gordon and Mary Evans, her brothers Leonard, Gerald, and Clifford, and her sisters Marjorie Clark, Tootsie Drouin, and Audrey Clark. She is survived by her daughters Karen Ferruccio (Serge) in St Catharines, Cheryl Annand (Ross) in Kemptville, six grandchildren, Joseph Ferruccio (Nichole), Marc Ferruccio (Jacquie), John Annand (Alissa), Cathy Parent (Derek), Glenda MacArthur (Paul), Glen Annand and three very special great grandchildren, Ainsley Parent, Hudson Parent, and Gibson Annand. She is also survived by one sister Muriel Christie, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Beatrice was born in Sturgeon Falls where she spent her growing up years. In 1941 she married Joseph Maltby at St. Andrew’s United Church. They moved to Sudbury and lived there with their two daughters until 1960 when Joe was transferred by Inco to Thompson, Manitoba. They returned to “the camp” in Evansville every summer to reunite with family and friends. Joe died in 1975 in Thompson, and the following year Bea returned to their hometown to settle in Evansville. For the next 39 years she lived on her own, enjoying the company of her relative, her neighbors, and her many friends – former and new. She loved to be on the go and travelled often with family & friends throughout Canada and the USA. Most of her trips were in the winter but she would go wherever and whenever the opportunity presented itself.
In 2015 she fell and broke her hip, and after that moved in with Cheryl and Ross where she was delighted with visits from her great grandchildren on an almost daily basis. In February this year Bea moved into Bayfield Manor where she was treated royally.
Bea was a very special lady! She was loved by all who knew her and will definitely be missed! RIP Beatrice.
Due to COVID restrictions, a celebration of life and burial, will not take place until next spring / summer in Sturgeon Falls. Funeral arrangements are in care of Theoret-Bourgeois funeral Home, Sturgeon Falls.
