Our hearts are forever scarred, our lives forever changed as we deeply regret to announce the sudden passing of our beautiful mother Audrey Jean Peddle (nee Whelan). Leaving behind this world to take her place in her Heavenly home mama passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 3, 2020.
Born Feb 5, 1949, to James and Nellie Whelan (both deceased) of Pilley’s Island, Audrey was loved and, often spoiled, by her big brothers – Edmund (Joan), Byron (deceased), Donald (deceased) and Kenneth (Christine) and her sisters Margaret (Bill) Whyatt and Rita Tilley (deceased). At 18, Audrey moved to Corner Brook, NL, where she met and married Derek Peddle and had three girls – Corinne (Sterling) Tulk; Betty-Lou (Guy) White and Tanya (Trevor) Cooper settling in Stephenville. Upon her divorce, in 1987, she met the love of her life Daniel J Bruce. For the next 33 years they shared a love story special and unique to them. Just three short months ago, Danny passed, leaving behind his “cutie.”
For our mama, always being an active part of her children’s and grandchildren’s everyday lives was her main priority. Whether that be speaking to her daughters daily, loudly cheering on her grandchildren Stephanie Young, Donovan and Katara White at sporting events or concerts, facetiming daily with grandson Owen Cooper or playing in the snow or taking long adventurous walks with her great grandson Hunter Hann. She looked forward to meeting her second great grandson in August.
A loving sister, she made sure to talk regularly with her siblings and her “chosen sister,” Agnes Gough. Her large circle of nieces and nephews will miss the love and birthday greetings of a devoted aunt. For mama, family meant everything and that included those who she chose to love and who chose her. Also mourning their loss is George, Vanessa and Daniel « DJ » Lee, Bradley Rose, Peddle and Tulk families and the many who met and loved “Aunt Audrey”, “Nanny Audi”, and “Mama Nana”.
Mama had the heart of an angel. Kind-hearted, generous, loving, and loyal, she never said a pretentious word against anyone, never held a grudge and would give her last dollar to help someone in need. She loved life and lived it to the fullest, making every moment count. With a twinkle in her eye, a song on her lips and a dance in her step she made everyone around her happier. To all she met, her bubbling laugh and infectious smile were characteristics used to describe her.
Mama spent her spare time strolling the streets of Stephenville with her little furry friends, taking time to stop for a chat along the way, give a wave and shout hello. After working at the Sun Luck Restaurant for 30 years, Mama never met a stranger; they were just a chat away from being a friend. She colored her life planting and nurturing her beautiful flowers. Free-spirited and silly she became our family’s Mastercard moment-Priceless leaving us with so many fond memories that will undoubtedly make losing her all the harder.
Cremation has taken place with a Celebration of Life to be scheduled at a later date.
Mama lived by her simple life philosophy-Love and Be Kind! To honour our mama’s memory, we ask you do the same. Do a kind deed for someone, plant a flower, donate to a charity of choice, or one close to her heart SWC SPCA or Lions of Canada Dog Guide program. Taylor Hanson said, “To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.”…If you met our mama, then you can rest assure you were part of her world!
