Obituary of Ann Dunn
Ann Dunn (nee Strachan)
On April 8, 2020, our loving Mom, Ann Dunn (nee Strachan) passed away peacefully in her 89th year. Ann was born on January 20, 1932, in the beautiful fishing town of Arbroath, Scotland to Alexander (Allie) Anderson Strachan and Annie Strachan (nee Christison). Mom told tales of her youth during war times of building bomb shelters, providing shelter to war heroes and accompanying her Mother to warn neighbours of oncoming air raids. She loved to play tennis, dance and later on enjoyed lawn bowling, bridge, gardening and flower arranging. Mom married Dad, Paul Casimer Dunn, a dashing Canadian Naval Officer on August 15, 1956, at Hopemount Church in Arbroath, Scotland and the two had three daughters, Janice (Bill), Patricia and Susan (Ronald). Paul passed peacefully on August 22, 2016. Mom is predeceased by her loving partner, John (McLintock) with whom she spent many happy years at their beautiful home on Keptie Road in Arbroath. The two enjoyed travelling the world together. Mom returned to Canada to be with her girls and her grandchildren, Alexa (Mike), Hailey (Thomas), Sam (Dallas) and Hannah (Isaac). Ann was an amazing Mom and loving Grandma who ensured her deep love for her Scottish heritage was passed on. She will be greatly missed. Her family would like to especially thank the kind caregivers at North Lambton Lodge, Forest, Ontario, for their dedication to ensuring Mom lived to the end with comfort, grace and dignity. She has gone Home to be with her parents and loved ones and we find great peace in this knowledge. A private service will be held. Mom will be laid to rest with her parents in Arbroath at Arbroath Western Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to Green Haven Shelter for Women, Orillia Ontario.
