Obituary of Alva Jean Faulkner
Passed peacefully away on October 23, 2020 at Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center, Alva Jean Faulkner (nee Dalley) of Bishop’s Falls at 91 years of age.
Born and raised in Springdale, Alva began her teaching career at just 15 years old. “Mrs. Faulkner” was known and loved by elementary students in Change Islands, Springdale, Bishop’s Falls and Windsor throughout her 45 year career. As an active member of Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle she was also a beloved Sunday school teacher and leader of Women’s Ministries.
Alva was predeceased by her parents William and Jean Dalley; in-laws Olive and Lester Faulkner; brothers Wayne, Max, Glen and Keith Dalley; loving husband Lindy Faulkner.
Left to mourn are her children Linda (Wayne Hardiman), Cynthia, Wayne (Colleen), Gene (Colleen), William (Barbara Anne), Susan (Darren Bursey), Jacquelyn, Paul (Madeline), and Donald; brothers Fred (Nita), Gerald (Edna), Don (Maureen), Melvin; sister Bonnie (Wayne); sister-in-law Jean; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and a large circle of extended family and friends.
Visitation will take place at Hoskins Funeral Home, Bishop’s Falls on Sunday, October 25 from 1-5 for family and friends following COVID restrictions. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle with Pastor Greg Patey in Bishop’s Falls on Monday, October 26 at 11:00 am. Pallbearers are sons Wayne, Gene, William, Donald and sons-in-law Wayne Hardiman and Darren Bursey. Due to current restrictions the service will be by invitation only.
The family would like to thank the staff of 3B and 2D at CNRHC for their care and compassion throughout the past ten months.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Kidney Association of Canada will be graciously accepted.
