It is with impossibly heavy hearts that we share the very
sudden and tragic passing of Allan R. Jenkins at the Guelph General
Hospital in his 41st year. Allan leaves behind
his beloved spouse Sophie L’Heureux, and their two
« kids » Agnes and Hoagie. He is lovingly remembered
by his Cape Breton family; David (Elaine), Robert, Brent (Angela),
Kevin (Juanita) and Mitchell. Allan will also be profoundly
missed by his friends, colleagues and extended family. He is
predeceased by his father, David, and mother, Sheila.
A trusted and respected Tool and Die Maker at Blount Canada,
Allan was fortunate to have worked alongside colleagues he considered
mentors and was looking forward to further developing his skill as a
tradesman. Allan was known in many circles for his daily delivery of
humour and laughter at no charge (because he « lived to
give », as he would often say). He always had a
bounce in his step, a smile on his face and lived life fuller than
most. « The Tool Room » will not be the same without
him.
As a key member of the ‘Friday Night Brotherhood
Band’, Allan, (known as Al), is irreplaceable. It
isn’t just because of the cool chops he’d been
developing on the electric guitar or his beautiful acoustic skills,
nor for his over-the-top Jimi-like feedback on the mandolin to end a
song in style, but because of the camaraderie, the gut-wrenching
laughter, and the love. Every Friday night would end with a round of
hugs and a « Love you Brother » from Al and it will
now never be the same without him. In their words: « We will
always have a special place in the jam circle for you, Al.
We are better players for having had this musical journey with you and
better people for having shared your life. »
With his spouse, sparring partner, and best friend Sophie,
Allan shared a love of travelling, backcountry canoeing and
camping. As much as they loved to travel off the beaten
path, their most cherished moments were spent at home with their
« kids », cooking and enjoying a good meal together,
listening to tunes and enjoying a few glasses of wine over laughs and
silly banter. Sophie is beyond grateful for the overwhelming
support from friends, neighbours and colleagues during this tragic
time. She cannot put into words what this terrible loss means. Not a
day will pass when we will not miss him. Cremation has taken place and
a memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions to the Humane Society of your choice
would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to
