Aldea Mary Luce-Doucet, 73, died peacefully in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 13th, having been surrounded by her husband, children, and many loved ones in her final days and hours. During her brief illness, Aldea demonstrated great courage, grace and positivity.
Aldea’s love of life and love of her family were constants throughout the years. She was adored by her many family members and numerous friends and could often be found in the middle of wherever a good gathering of either of these groups of people was occurring, which was often in her own home.
An avid nature lover, Aldea especially loved camping, clam digging, picking blueberries, and gardening. She also spent time enjoying life with friends and family members at the nearby beaches, rivers and forests. Her adventurous personality and free spirit led her to enjoy life’s moments, whether they were spent joyously surrounded by the people and activities that she loved or spent quietly creating beautiful crafting projects or reading.
Aldea is survived by her husband Peter McVeigh; her son Bryan Kenny (Renée); her daughter Cindy Farrell (Doug); sisters Anita Doucet (Leonard); Jeannine White (Stephen); and brother Richard Luce (Jocelyn). She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Grayson, Shane, Olivia, Cameron and Payton, as well as her much adored nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many broken-hearted but cherished friends and extended family members, who share in the grief of her passing.
She is predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Dora Luce; her twin brother, Alden Luce; her sister Carmella (Ted) Clement; her infant brother Laurent Luce; her infant sister Marielle Luce and her previous husband, Tom Doucet.
At her request, there will be no visitation however a funeral service will be held at the Elhatton Funeral Home Chapel, on Wednesday, March 4th, 2020 at 4:00 PM. In memory of Aldea, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice, would be appreciated.
