Obituary
Adam came into this world a fighter on December 22nd, 1971 – 3 months early. He was born to Donna Ojala (Small) and Leo (Veli) Ojala in Port Hardy, BC. Adam sadly passed away in Nanaimo, BC on November 2, 2020. He is predeceased by his father Leo Ojala, grandparents Lempi and Yrjo Ojala, Donald and Jean Small, and his brother-in-law, Thomas Hong.
Adam was a kind and gentle soul who brought light to everyone around him. He is loved and will truly be missed by so many.
He is survived by his mother Donna Small, stepfathers Richard Helgren and Keith McLennan (Jayne), his daughter Richelle Ojala, his sister Michelle McLennan (children Callum McLennan, Tiffany, Chase, Tyler Hong), brother Shawn McLennan (children Haylie Schmittke, Emma Walton), sister Tracy Ojala (children Krystal, Victoria Ripley), honorary sister Tanya Wassell (Dawson, Jayde, Araya, Kyron Wassell), as well as many much-loved aunts, uncles, and cousins on all sides.
We, Adam’s family, extend our heart-felt thanks and gratitude to three wonderful people, without whom we would not have closure: Lee Forsyth, Clint Smith and John Newson. Thank you for all that you’ve done to help our family, and for showing Adam great kindness and friendship. We are forever grateful.
We ask that in lieu of flowers you make donations to the following Nanaimo organizations: BC Schizophrenia Society (250-753-9923), the 7-10 Breakfast Club, (250-714-0917) or the Vancouver Island Crisis Society (250-753-2495) who works with Nanaimo’s most vulnerable.
A service will be held once restrictions lift, and invitations will be sent out accordingly.
