Passed to Eternal Rest on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at the Health Sciences Centre. John Patrick Cantwell of Avondale, aged 65 years. Predeceased by his: parents William and Catherine (nee Penney) Cantwell, brother William, sister-in-law Carmel, brother-in-law Al as well as his parents–in-law Christopher and Janet Randell of Bide Arm.
Left with fond and loving memories are his: wife of 44 years, Joyce (nee Randell), sons; John Jr. and David (Heather) precious grandchildren Daniel, Jordan, (and their mother) and Lucas. He also leaves to mourn his sisters: Marie (Wayne), Madonna (Nick), Christine (Joe), Denise, Roxanne (Joe) and Pamela (Jimmy), his brothers: Tony, Wayne (Bernadette) and Steve (Kelly), sisters-in-law: Ann, Nina and Wanda (Garl), his brothers-in-law Edgar (Susie), Manuel (Gloria) and Sidney, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
John was a retired member of Eastern Health after 25 years of service to others. He was an active and visible volunteer in the community and was a proud member of the Mt. Carmel and Marine Golden Age 50+ Clubs. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Cabot Council 6001, Cabot Assembly 1644, and a member of Board of Administration Assumption Parish, Avondale.

During these challenging times, cremation has already taken place. A Private Funeral Service will be held at Assumption Catholic Church on Wednsday, August 12, 2020,with inurnment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Avondale. If friends so desire, donations in John’s memory may be made to your local food bank or a charity of one’s choice.
