It is with heavy hearts and extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Donna Komar (Morrison), who lost her valiant battle at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare (Windsor, Ontario) on April 4, 2020. Donna was born on May 3, 1931, to the late Gertrude (Desmond) and the late William A. Morrison. Donna loved to share stories of her childhood, particularly Windsor Firefighters’ Field Days and weekends with her aunts, uncles and cousins. She married Jerome, known by all as “Mickey”, in 1952, and, together, they welcomed their four children Greg (Judy), Joel, Leslie (Michael), and Paula (Tom). Donna and Mickey treasured raising their family in Montréal, Québec, where they spent most of their married life. Donna was predeceased by her husband Mickey (1989), and son Greg (2013).
An intelligent, compassionate, sensitive woman, Donna was loved dearly. Her quick wit and sense of humour will be sorely missed. Donna was creative and artistic, demonstrating a keen eye for beauty and colour, exhibiting unparalleled attention to detail. Her many works of art will continue to be proudly displayed and cherished. She was also an avid lover of music, and her beautiful voice will live on forever in her children’s memories. Donna also delighted in her travels throughout Europe and the Caribbean with Mickey, and would never turn down the chance to take a spin on the dance floor.
Crystal, Trish (Ken), Matthew (Ana), Nick, David, Daniel, Matthew, Alanna (Navio), Jaxon, and Mia will miss their beautiful Grammy, whose love and pride for them was beyond measure. Donna is survived by her sister, Jane, brother-in-law Bob (June), and sisters-in-law Dorothy, Vi, and Agnes, as well her most special friends Peggy, Dorothy, Gail and Dennis.
Donna’s family would like to extend their warmest thanks and appreciation to the entire Palliative staff of 3-South at HDGH. You embody empathy and compassion; you are truly called to serve. Your dedication to Donna’s care will never be forgotten. We are also indebted to Donna’s Palliative home care nurses, Datza and Doug, who guided us through the difficult transition from home to HDGH’s Palliative Care Program.
A private memorial service will be held at Morrison Lake on a later date.
