Obituary of Larry Block
Larry James Block passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31st 2020 at the Ste. Anne Hospital at the age of 69.
He is survived by his wife Christine, son Clayton (Andrea) and daughter Carlee. His grandchildren Austin, Brayden, Allison, Travis and James. His Brother Raymond (Sonya), sister Christine Senkow (Melvin) and Gloria Armenti (Luciano). As well as many nephews and nieces.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, James and Lena Block.
Dad always had an ear for music. He played guitar and bass guitar for many years. He also played the Cymballe, fiddle, harmonica, banjo, and whatever else you would hand him. This ear for music was how he met mom, playing in his band, Sincerely yours.
Dad and Mom married September 8th, 1973. They lived in a house trailer on his mom and dads farm just outside Sarto, where he farmed with his dad and Uncle Steve. Later they moved to a 10-acre lot just down the road. Which is currently still the family home.
In 1983 they adopted Clayton and in 1991 they adopted Carlee. Dad loved his wife, kids, and grandkids with all his heart. His priorities were always his family. He always found time to go fishing, snowmobiling or just play catch. At Christmas time he often resembled the man in the red suit. He also enjoyed meeting with his grandchildren for breakfast at the coffee shop in Grunthal.
Dad managed a sheep farm for many years, working hard doing chores, fieldwork and maintenance. Later on, he became the maintenance man at McDonalds in Steinbach and drove bus for the Hanover School Division for 25 years.
In his spare time, he would golf, fish, woodwork in the garage and various other things around the house. He also LOVED football! He had Blue Bomber season tickets for over 20 years. He was very loyal, as some of those years were hard to watch, but he kept going, and kept cheering.
We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and support staff at the St. Boniface Hospital and the Ste. Anne Hospital.
In keeping with his wishes a small family funeral took place April 1, 2020, and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Heart and Stroke foundation.
In tears we saw you sinking,
We watched you day by day
Our hearts were almost broken,
You fought so hard to stay
But when we saw you sleeping,
So peaceful, free of pain
We could not wish you back
To suffer that again.
2020
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Larry
