La célébration de
William Gray Reid
3 juin 1932 –
18 mars 2020
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father,
William Gray Reid (Dad/Bill/Grampa). He will be remembered with everlasting love and joy by his former wife and lifelong friend, Harley, deeply missed by his devoted children, Rob (Susan), Vicki (Eugene) and Tim. The adored and revered Gramps of Julie (Ian), David (Jesse), Mark (Lisa), Kevin (Brittany) and Pam (Josh). Cherished stepfather to Stephen (Sheri), and stepgrandfather to Kendra and Tyler.
Dad had a passion and enjoyment of life that knew no bounds. He loved to laugh, and was well known for his sharp wit, and positive outlook on life. He loved skiing and traveling with his family, reading mystery books, piloting his airplane ZUE, and his lifelong passion, golf, spending countless hours on the course with family and friends. Dad was so proud to achieve Emeritus status at his favourite and much loved home course, MLG&CC, still enjoying a round and a post golf milkshake into his early 80’s with his long time friend Ken. And of course, his love of good food is legendary.
But there was no place Dad loved more than Harwood Point, sitting on the veranda looking out at the lake. He got immeasurable joy knowing that his family shared his love for the cottage, and seeing the amazing family times we all enjoyed there. Dad fell in love with Muskoka as a young boy, and we all knew that this was his real home, his soul is there.
Dad had a distinguished career as an Investment Dealer that spanned over 47 years at Fry & Company Limited (Fry Mills Spence, Burns Fry, Nesbitt Burns, BMO Nesbitt Burns).
His sense of community was powerful, and he was well known and greatly admired for his unwavering integrity, teaching us all that your word is gold.
Family always came first and foremost with Dad, and his impact on all of us is profound. His love is in our hearts, his spirit is in our souls, and he will live on forever in all of us.
Dad, Bill, Grampa, we will miss you dearly. May you rest in peace .
There will be a private family service held to honour Bill, and a Celebration of Life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation at www.thepmcf.ca, or Trillium Health Partners at www.trilliumgiving.ca, two organizations that had a meaningful and lasting impact on his life.
