Alan’s Obituary
Stewart, Alan Clinton, Lockeport, born Jan. 1, 1939 passed away peacefully surrounded by his four children on March 18, 2020 at Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point, Nova Scotia. Son of the late Althea and Edward Stewart, Alan was the eldest of seven children and took his role of big brother seriously all of his life. Alan always put others and their needs above himself. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, berry picking, walks in the woods and camping. He loved spending time with family especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alan was the consummate family man. Alan was a man of deep faith, integrity and lived by example all of his life. Alan worked as a public servant with the federal government for 33 yrs. Over the years he served on various church boards and committees. Alan always believed in leaving a place better than he found it. After retirement he returned to his hometown of Lockeport where he served on town council. He enjoyed being involved and helping others. Alan is survived by his loving wife of almost three years, Dianne, his children Laurie Pass (Bradley) Port LaTour, N.S., Susan MacKenzie (Kenneth) Iona, P.E., Melanie Batsford (Glenn) Rose Valley, P.E., and Andrew, Riverview N.B. Step sons Paul Stephens (Stephanie), HRM and Doug Stephens (Lisa) HRM and their families. Grandchildren, Alycia (Lucas), Benjamin (Laverne), Emily (Thomas), Alannah (Isaac), Nathan, and Emma, Great-Grandchildren Kaelynn and Samuel Alan. Siblings, Russel (Kay), Helen Oxford, Herbie (Debby) and Louise (Weasie) DeMings (James) and numerous nieces and nephews. Alan was predeceased by his wife of 53 years Lucille (Tillie) nee Stephens, grandsons Joshua Ward and Matthew Pass, his siblings Edward (Ted), and Hugh (Dagger).
