Thomas W. Burke
North Sydney
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas William Burke, age 79, on Thursday December 24, 2020 at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Born in North Sydney, November 28, 1941, Tom was the son of the late Michael Joseph and Catherine (Brewer) Burke. He was a pipefitter by trade working in construction and for a number of years at the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station in New Brunswick. He later lived at Gillis House, Boisdale with Rev. John Webb for many years.
Tom is survived by his daughter Tanya (Mark) Poole, sons Michael (MJ) Burke, Robert (Brenda) Burke, grandchildren Michael, Brady, Justin, Ryan, William, Emilee, Jarett, Robert and Eric, all of New Brunswick, sisters Georgina Muise and Monica (Brian) Shebib, also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Tom was predeceased by sisters Kay MacEachern, Teresa McKinnon, Regis Cameron, Vaughn Bagnell, Peggy Barrie and Marie Romeo, brothers Joseph, Lloyd and Michael in infancy. The family would like to thank Dr. Stephanie Langley for Tom’s care while living at the Northside Community Guest Home and the kind and compassionate caregivers of Cara House and Theresa Terrace for his excellent attentive care over the past four years.
By request there will be no visitation. A private funeral service will be live streamed 11:00 am Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney with Rev. Doug MacDonald and Deacon Roy Smith officiating. Memorial donations may be sent to Hospice, Circle of Care Campaign, www.circleofcarecb.ca .
