Bradley Kelly 2020

Bradley Kelly
Bradley Kelly, 86, of Moncton,
died peacefully in the palliative care unit at the George Dumont
Hospital on December 17, 2020. He had been a resident of McNair Manor.
He is survived by daughter and
son-in-law, Bonnie and Joe Sturgeon, brothers Charlie (Carol), Weymond
(Pearl) and sister Ruth Murray, as well as many nieces and nephews.
His beloved cat, Penny is now in the care of Bonnie and Joe.
Bradley is predeceased by his
wife Jeannine (Williams), parents Leslie and Ina (Hicks), and siblings
Richard, Ken, Annie (Morton), Viola (Groundwater), Julia (Renton),
Leta (Morton), Henrietta (Letterick), and
Zelda.
Bradley worked at the Department of
Transportation in various positions for over 30 years including snow
plow driver, welder, mechanic, and shop supervisor. He made many good
friends there over the years and had many stories to tell of late
nights and snow storms. He was a good welder, mechanic, and innovator.
He fixed many vehicles, installed hundreds of trailer hitches, and
fabricated many items from his home garage where he also hosted many
summer lobster parties.
In his younger years he
enjoyed playing hockey, bowling, and a good game of horse shoes. He
also took a spin around the floor as a square dancer occasionally. He
spent many nights working as a mechanic in the « pits » at the
stock car races.
He enjoyed spring in the maple
sugar bush and worked for many years with family members and friends.
In later years he would still make candy on the snow at home and birch
bark containers.
In
retirement Bradley took up wood working and built trellises that were
sold by local businesses. He also built several pieces of small
furniture. For a time he and his wife had a small green house and
produced hanging baskets that they sold from stands at the end of the
driveway. They had regular customers for many years. He was a regular
on the golf course and was a member at Maplewood Golf Course. He
enjoyed the regular seniors group each week.
Anyone who knew Bradley would
know of his love of sports, especially hockey, curling, and baseball.
He was a long time, ever optimistic, Toronto Maple Leaf fan. His young
daughter learned her first swear words during Saturday Hockey Night in
Canada.
In the past few years,
Bradley’s mobility lessened. Many neighbours, friends and
family assisted with tasks that allowed him to remain in his own home.
We will be forever grateful to them, as well as those who provide the
services and home care available to assist seniors in the local
community.
The family would like to thank
the staff and care givers of McNair Manor and the George Dumont
Hospital for their excellent care and kindness. We would also like to
thank the many Doctors that cared for Bradley over the years. A
heartfelt thanks also to Bev Dixon for care and companionship in
recent years.
There will be no visitation or
service at this time in hopes of keeping everyone just a little
healthier in these strange and stressful times. A celebration of life
and interment at the Stilesville Cemetery will be held with family and
friends in the spring.
Arrangements are in the care of the
Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton
