It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Judith announces her passing on Monday, December 14, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. Devoted and loving wife of Billy Burak for fifty-six years. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Howard and Debbie (Weinberger), David and Michelle (Schapiro), and Jamie Burak. Proud and adoring Bubby of Alexa and fiancé Eitan, Zachary, Sydnee, and Rebecca; Erin, and Emma; Jack, Sophia and Lily. Cherished sister and sister-in-law of Arthur and Yolande Steiner, Robert and Tal Steiner and Judy Kuntsler, and the late Lewis Steiner. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Judy was compassionate, caring and devoted to her entire family. The love Judy had for her family and the love they had for her will always be cherished. She was a gentle soul with a big heart and was loved by everyone she met. She cared most about making everyone around her happy. She spent many years volunteering in the community and rose to become the president of B’nai Brith Women’s Eastern Canada. Until recently, Judy was actively working in the family business alongside her husband for the past 55 years. She will be fondly remembered for her amazing cooking and baking that all nine of her grandchildren loved so much. Known for her elegance and great sense of fashion, her grandchildren always looked forward to seeing their Bubby’s latest style. Her real beauty shone from the inside and she put a smile on the faces of everyone she met. Judy was taken away from us too soon and her departure will leave a void in all our lives. She will remain in our thoughts and hearts forever. Heartfelt thanks to Alby Francis for her exceptional care and devotion. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Gerald Batist and Dr. Richard Sheppard at the Jewish General Hospital and nurses Gelara and Garnet. She will be greatly missed and remembered by all whose lives she touched. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 16.
