Angus Dunphy

Gus passed away peacefully surrounded by family, after a long illness throughout which he was lovingly cared for by his wife of 48 years Mary Anne Dunphy.
Gus loved, and was loved by, his children: Beth, Glenn, Chrysi, Heather, and Michael; his sons- and daughter-in-law: Gordon, Clifford, and Jennifer; his grandchildren: Quinn, Jack, Bowen, and Reef; his sisters and brothers: Barbara and Bob, Percy, Bart, Sylvester, Chester, Cecil, Norah, and Edna; his nieces and nephews, especially Joanne, Gene, and Katie who lived nearby.
Early in his life Gus lost his first wife Sandra (McVicar) to a sudden illness, which left him a father on his own with small children. Love came again for Gus when he met his Mary Anne, and they married and grew their young family.
We remember him this way: A twinkle in his eyes as he made one of his many jokes; at the stove making pancakes shaped in our initials; at the wheel of his boat with his dog Pepper at his side; a rod in his hand as he fished Georgian Bay; enjoying the Pointe au Baril sunsets from his workroom full of tools; proud of his grandchildren; a poet and painter of the landscapes he loved; wise-cracking at card games; and as someone who lived a long and varied life filled with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dorothy Ley hospice. A private mass will be held, with a larger celebration of life to be planned in the spring. Online condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca
