Kornelia Pincente

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kornelia Pincente on Thursday,
November 12th, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre with her daughter at her side.
Kornelia is survived by her mother, Danuta, her children Stefan (Carmen) and Lauren (Rob) and
her granddaughter Isla. She is predeceased by her husband, Flavio, and her father, George.
Born Kornelia Schwarz in Ulm, Germany, she came to Toronto as a toddler and grew up in the
city’s west end where she took an early interest in designing thanks to her grandmother, and
developed a love of sewing, knitting, crocheting and needlepoint. She met her husband Flavio
while working at Towers and they married in 1977, eventually moving to Richmond Hill to raise
their family. That is where Kornelia blossomed in her role as a stay-at-home mother, filling
holidays with crafts, activities, decorating, baking, costume-making and outings to places like
the pumpkin patch, Christmas tree farm and Canada’s Wonderland. When she went back to
work, she became the ultimate crafter, developing a hobby of painting and excelling in floral
design.
Once she lost the ability to do these activities, she became an avid reader, Sudoku master and
loved to tell stories about her children when they were young to anyone who would listen.
Kornelia lived with Multiple Sclerosis for 25 years but maintained a positive and happy outlook,
finding joy in her daily life and often saying that despite it all, she was happy.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Farhiya Mohamed and Saraswati “Suzi”
Shrestha whose care allowed her to stay in the home she loved and to all of the homecare
support workers whose additional support and love was felt deeply over the last ten years.
The funeral will take place by invite only. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family has chosen to forego a reception and keep the burial private.
