REDSCHLAG, Doris (née Beyer)
—
It is with Great Sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Doris, on October 21, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. Doris, at the age of 54, was at home surrounded by her family when she left this earth for her heavenly home. Her memory will be cherished by Brian, her husband of 35 years; her son Branden (Twyla) and their children; and her son Trent (Cassandra). She is also lovingly remembered by her parents, Wilf and Trudi Beyer; her brother Curt Beyer; and her sister Betty-Lou Beyer. She had a special place in her heart for her nephews Jarred (Melissa), Kris (Joanna), and Taylor (Alyssa); and nieces Marlies (Travis), Tricia (Jeff), Bre and Meli; as well as the large extended family and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly. She was sadly predeceased by her brother Michael Beyer.
Doris’ greatest joy came from being a proud mother to her amazing sons and “Gammi” to her precious grandkids, Tenley (8) and Bauer (3). The highlight of her life were the moments she spent with them spoiling them as only she could. Her family and close friends were central to her life, and she was happiest when providing them with delicious meals, amazing baking or snacks, making sure that everyone had enough to eat 24/7, and having a good time.
Summers were filled with memories spent on the family boat or hosting backyard pool parties – with plenty of food no matter where the adventure took place. When it came to family vacations or summer holidays with the nephews and nieces, Doris would jump into planning mode to organize the next great and memorable adventure or activity, always making sure that everyone was enjoying themselves.
She will be remembered for her loving infectious smile, which was even brighter than the pretty dresses she loved to wear, and it would light up a room. Not even a diagnosis of terminal cancer could dim her bright light as she fought every day of her illness with unbelievable grace. She consistently expressed appreciation for the care she received from her family that so lovingly cared for her until her last day.
The family would like to thank Dr. McCloskey for his tireless efforts and devotion in caring for Doris. To Mona from Interior Health for her compassionate care, and the many Drs and Nurses at KGH and BC Cancer who graciously cared for Doris.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Reachout Youth Ministries, www.ryministries.net.
