Obituary for
Rose Romaniuk
It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Rose, a beloved wife, mother, Baba, and great-Baba on October 2, 2020, at the age of 98 years.
Rose was a dedicated mother and her family was of utmost importance to her. She especially loved her role as Baba. Given that Rose was a great cook and was famous for her perogies, nalysnyky, and pies, she was most happy when her kids and grandkids were gathered around her kitchen table.
Rose had a vivacious personality and she was a people person. She worked at Birks for many years often recognized as one of the top Canadian sales representatives. Ask any question about diamonds or china, Rose was an expert. She loved to dance, travel, cook and entertain as often as possible. She was most well known for her singing and would find a tune to cheer someone up or greet the day. She was loved deeply by her best friend Vladimir for over 30 years. Mom was proud of her determined spirit and lived in her own home for 97 years at which time she moved into Laurier House Lynnwood . Rose added “sparkle” in many people’s lives including those who lived and worked in the care home where Rose resided the last 15 months.
She will be deeply missed by her children: son, Orest (Barb) Romaniuk; daughter, Nadine (Ken Strilchuk, daughter, Cathy and Dave Cartwright; granddaughters, Lydia Solverson, Ashley and Ethan Clements, Sarah Cartwright and Adam Stachal; grandsons, Anton and Joann Turner Strilchuk, Christopher Cartwright, Zachary and Kelsey Romaniuk, Nikolas Romaniuk; great- grandsons, Theodore Turner Strilchuk and Blake Romaniuk; her best friend, Vladimir Salyzyn; brother-in-law, Bill Zapernick; sisters-in-laws, Vicki and Frank Eden and Olga Hunka.
Rose was predeceased by her husband, Walter who passed away in 1986. She was one of eight children and was the last remaining sibling.
We wish to say thank you for the great care Rose received from all the various care providers through home care, as well as a special thanks to Dr. Fraser Armstrong, Dr. Valerie Capstick, Louisa Foster and all the staff at Laurier House Lynwood.
