Obituary for Dorothy Clark
It is with great sadness we share that Dorothy Jean (nee Dear) Clark, in her 93rd year, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2020, at Fiddick’s Nursing Home in Petrolia. Born September 12, 1928, Dorothy was the third child to Josiah Edward and Emily Dear. Dorothy grew up on the English seaside. As a teenager Dorothy lived through the bombing of England during the second World War. Over the years our family has heard many stories of her war-time experiences. She married the love of her life, Bruce, at the end of the War. In 1959, they made the decision to immigrate to Canada to “the land of opportunity where the streets were paved with gold”. Bruce passed away in 2002. She will be missed by her children Sheila (Leonard) Anderson, Christine (Greg) Reid, David (Diana) Clark and Kathy Clark. Loving Nana to Christopher (Tania) Clark, Brenda (Sean) Bell, Jennifer (James) Hill, Rachel (Kent) Fiest, Emily Anderson, Matthew (Devon) Clark, Dylan and Cody Clark. Great Nana to Dominic, Adriana, Thomas, Sadie, Elizabeth and Sullivan. Predeceased by her siblings Ronald and Margaret, her son Richard (1989) and her grand-daughter Kimberly Grace (2014). A special thanks to all the staff at Fiddick’s Nursing Home and Landmark Village for their loving care and compassion towards Dorothy over the years.
Due to Covid-19 regulations a private family service will be held on October 9, 2020. A celebration of her life will be held in the summer of 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (www.alzheimer.com).
