EDGAR LAWRENCE HILL (TED) passed away peacefully on September 20, 2020 at the Alberta Rose Lodge in Lethbridge. He is predeceased by his father, Edgar Lawrence Hill (Larry) and mother Deloise Bennion Hill, his two sisters, Colleen Fink, and Joan Berkley Olsen and brother Robert (Bob) Bennion.
Ted was born on February 13, 1935 in Lethbridge, Alberta. His family spent most of their summers in Waterton with family and friends. The Vimy Vue was the family cabin and he was the 3rd generation to enjoy its views and charm.
He is survived by his 3 children: Fred (Yvonne) Hill, Dee Dee (Walter) Michel and Becky Hill, 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
As the owner of Hill’s Pantry, he is fondly remembered for his ability to service most of the equipment he sold including Bosch bread makers. He could also make a tasty loaf of whole wheat bread.
He coached baseball and made life-long friends with many of the young men under his tutelage. He also spent many hours as an active supporter of the Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta.
Ted’s favorite past-times were fishing and telling fishing stories. He spent many hours looking for the best lure and the best fishing hole. His fishing skills meant that his family ate fish all summer long. He also loved to share his fishing poles and expertise with family and friends. He has a perpetual lease on the fishing holes in the lakes in Waterton.
He will forever be remembered for his big smile and friendly greetings. His door was always opened to welcome in strangers and friends alike.
No funeral service will be held at this time but there will be a gathering of family and friends in Waterton next summer to celebrate his life.
He will be cremated, and a plaque will be placed on the wall at the Waterton cemetery underneath the ones for his father and mother.
