Cora’s Obituary
Cora Loretta Jean Matchim of Deer Lake, NL, passed peacefully away on Monday, August 31st, 2020, at the palliative care unit in Corner Brook, NL.
Cora was born in Deer Lake, and spent most of her childhood years in Deer Lake, NL. She met the love of her life Eric, her husband of 66 years and together had 9 beautiful children, 19 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Cora loved to knit, bake, skate, and attend church regularly! As a stay at home mom she worked tirelessly to provide a warm and loving home for her children.
She will be sadly missed and always remembered by her husband; Eric, her children; Beverley Pelley, Newman (Shirley), Calvin (Rita), Gary (Jocelyn), Byron (Barb), Sharon Parsons (Dion), Pamela Mercer (William), Bobby (Tara), and Brian (Benny), her grandchildren; Crystal, Melissa, Patti, Stacey, Ryan, Payton, Ashdon, Scott, Jamie, Brandon, Paul, Alicia, Dawson, Gannon, Kirkland, Jada, Brent, Amanda, and Erika, her great grandchildren; David, tayla, Wyatt, Murdoch, Leonard, Winston, Kai, Caden, Brooklyn, Hailey, Kalen, Lucas, Chloe, and Jackson, her brothers; Carl, and Robert. Cora was predeceased by her parents; Louise and Archibald Langdon, her mother and father-in-law; Jessie and Cecil Matchim, her granddaughter; Saphire, son-in-law; David Pelley, sisters; Stella Langdon, Lovenia, Wagg, Gladys Patey, Eileen Varga, Margaret White, and Ivy Baker, her brothers; Bramwell, Norman, Selby, Claude, Newman, and Ralph, special sister-in-law; Shirley Martin, special nephews; Roy McNeil, and Howard Langdon. Also leaving to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends.
Arrangements are under the care of Parsons Funeral Home, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL. Due to the current Covid-19 Restrictions, a private viewing will be held at the funeral home chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL.
The funeral service will take place at the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church on Bennett’s Ave, Deer Lake, NL, on Friday, September 4th, 2020, at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Jeffrey White officiating with burial at the Pentecostal church section of the Deer Lake, Interdenominational cemetery on Wight’s Road Deer Lake, NL.
