Born in Calgary, Michael Ryan Babb was the middle child to Michael and Alice Babb. Michael had an older sister Jody and a younger sister Nicki.
It is with great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Michael Ryan Babb on July 7, 2020 at the age of 47. Michael was an extraordinary person who had many exceptional skills and talents.
Michael was born in Calgary, however he was raised in Whitehorse. He spent his childhood enjoying nature, being active by working out, body building was his greatest passion. He learned many of his artistic and musical skills as a teenager. You could often find him reading books and his favorite was his Conan comics. He would often be playing guitar to his favorite band Metallica. He had a great love for all his pets; from cats, dogs and even an iguana named Spazzor. Michael graduated from F.H. Collins in 1991.
Michael had the chance to live in New Westminster, and later moving back to Calgary to call home for many years. He had many happy memories with family and friends at barbeques, birthday parties and other holiday celebrations. He would always share the latest video games with his nieces and cousins. Michael was always joking around and you could often find him playing the guitar with his dad, grandma and uncle. Michael graduated from SAIT with his Journeyman Carpenter Red Seal certification. In July of 2019, the Yukon called him home and this is where he had later passed away.
Michael is survived by his parents, Alice Babb (French) and Michael O. Babb (Calgary); His oldest sister Jody Wielgosz, Troy (husband) nieces and nephew Stacy, Ashley, Samuel and Lorien Wielgosz (Kelowna); his youngest sister Nicki Wengzynowski, Brad (husband); nieces Aurora and Adelina Wengzynowski (Calgary); Uncle Donald and Aunt Veronica (wife) French (Langley); Cousins Joel and Mandy (wife) French (La la Nonne); Corey French (Calgary); Bryan and Veronica (wife), Tea, Andon and Harlo French (Redwood Meadows); and many extended family and dear friends.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for Michael will be held at a later date. His ashes will remain in the Yukon where he loved nature. The family thanks everyone who has offered messages of condolences, stories, memories, donation of food, flowers and charitable giving. In lieu of flowers, or gifts please consider donating needed items or funds to your local animal rescue shelter in memory of Michael.
