Obituary of Bertram Clarence King
Bertram Clarence King ( Aug. 11, 1942 – July 19, 2020 ) passed away peacefully at the Green Bay Community Health Center in Springdale. Bert had a very successful business life until cancer forced him to close his long time business of 40 years, The Hitching Post in Grand Falls-Windsor in 2012. Dad enjoyed his retirement at his cabin in West Bottom where he resided until his death. He is predeceased by his parents Pearce and Irene King, brothers: Wallace and Bob and sister, Rome Saunders. Leaving to mourn are his loving son Dean (wife Tracey and grandchildren Elena, Eden and Braeden King.) Also mourning his loss are siblings: David (Ruth), Hayward (Lois), Bennie (Vera), Betty (John Nicholson), Doreen Nippard, Sadie Price, Sandra King and Ruth Manuel and Aunt Nell Cull. His children, Debbie (Paul), Denise Thompson (Rick), Duane and their families, Bryan and Breanna King, Scott and Crystal Thompson, Nicole and Shaylyn King, close friends Buss and Ann Drover, Tonia Burton, and many nieces, nephews, and friends in West Bottom, Grand-Falls Windsor, South Brook, and Catamaran Park and across this province. Dad was a great historian and enjoyed telling a story. If he didn’t know you, he knew a relative of yours and had a story to share.
As per Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place. We will say goodbye to our Dad and Pop on the waters of Halls Bay, where we will spread his memories and celebrate his laughter and love of life. Never forgotten and forever loved. Until we meet again RIP.
