Lourdes M. Lyons
1951 – 2020
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the unexpected loss of our sister Lourdes Lyons of Millbank, NB on June 17, 2020 as the result of a tragic accident.
Born in Millbank on June 24, 1951, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret (Savage) Lyons.
She was a sister to Gloria Duncan (Bill) of Keswick, ON, Rose McFarlane (Frank) of Miramichi and George Lyons of Lower Newcastle.
Lourdes was exceptionally proud and loving mother to her daughter, Jodi (Clayton) Elliott of Red Deer, AB and her world, her granddaughter, Kassidy Elliott of Red Deer, AB. She will be sadly missed by her nieces: Rebecca Duncan (Marc Antoine), Laura McFarlane, nephew, David McFarlane (Lisa Mason) and great niece, Eulalia McFarlane, many, many cousins around the world as the love for her is deep, true and far-reaching.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister Gloria Duncan of Keswick, ON, brother-in-law Bill Duncan, sister-in-law Michelle Lyons of Newmarket, ON, nieces Jennifer Duncan and Stacie McFarlane, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Lourdes’ humor, love of life, love of family was known far and wide and even through her own ill health she made us laugh and happy to be around her.
Lourdes was a counselor for the mentally challenged and worked in that field in NB and AB, also in nursing homes in AB and caregiver for the elderly in the Miramichi. She was a passionate advocate for the mentally challenged, the elderly and the disadvantaged. Children, animals (especially cats) and the elderly gravitated to her as they felt her empathy and love of them.
Her 18 year old tabby “Katie” will be lost, as are we. We know she is preparing her glorious “Caesar’s” for all her heavenly family especially Mom and Aunt Tess. Rest well Lourdesie – our lives are forever changed.
Due to the COVID – 19 Crisis there will be no service held at this time. Interment will be in the All Saints Roman Catholic Cemetery, Millbank, NB at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Power of Pets Miramichi or Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
