SUDSBURY, (Alvin) Lee Reagh
We are sad to announce that Lee passed away at Carleton Place Terrace, Carleton Place (Ontario) on Friday, May 29, 2020.
Lee was born on December 1, 1937 in Kensington, PEI, son of the late Minerva (Duggan) and Alvin Sudsbury. Predeceased by his best friend and wife of 43 years Pat (Patricia) Ann Sudsbury (Power). Adored father of Rae Ann Sudsbury (Allyson Woodside) of Carleton Place and Robin Porter (James) of Toronto, Ontario. Beloved Oppy to grandchildren Andrew and Jamie Ann Porter. Predeceased by his sisters Alma MacEachern and Marie Tuplin, he leaves behind his brother Vernon “Bud” Sudsbury and sister Cathy MacDougall.
In 1958, Lee joined the RCMP. This adventure started with a train ride from Prince Edward Island to Regina, Saskatchewan. Upon graduation he was posted to Newfoundland where he met the love of his life Pat. They married in 1963 and both their daughters were born in Newfoundland. Their adventure continued with postings in Ottawa, Regina and then Ottawa again. Lee was a wonderful teacher, heading up driver training at Depot and developing many courses at the Canadian Police College, his last posting prior to retirement.
Retirement signalled a return to the Maritimes where he and Pat set up shop first in Quispamsis, NB, and Moncton, NB and then a true retirement, back to Margate, PEI, living only a couple of kilometers from where he was born. After the passing of Pat, his girls pushed for one last move so they could all be closer together and he relocated to Carleton Place. Soon, he became a season ticketholder for the Carleton Place Canadians, ever the lover of hockey.
He was always quick with a smile and his power tools for anyone who needed his help. Our “old goofy guy” will forever be a part of our favourite stories and adventures.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and caregivers at the Waterside and Carleton Place Terrace for their wonderful support. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date back in PEI. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home 19 McArthur Avenue, Carleton Place, ON.
