Griettinus (Tinus) Braker passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, May 3, 2020.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Pauline Braker (nee Watts); parents, Goossen Braker and Willemina (Nijboer) Braker; brothers, Menno Braker, Albert Braker, Albertus Braker and Ewold Braker; and sister, Rika (Ree) Braker.
Survived by his children, Hugh Braker, Clifford Braker (Sophie), Colin Braker (Marilyn); grandchildren, Melanie Braker (Keith), Holly McLaughlin (Dominic) and Hana Braker; great grandchildren, Tyrelle Braker, Kolten Braker, Kieris Braker-Patterson and Deja McLaughlin; and very numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
Tinus was well known in the Alberni Valley for his many years of work at the Somas Sawmill, first pulling wood from the green chain and then as an electrician. And later, he founded Braker Electric and spent many years working on dozens of homes and businesses in the Alberni Valley and on the west coast.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. We kindly ask that you follow the social distancing. Please remain in your vehicles and an usher will inform you when it is your turn to pay your respects. We will have hand sanitizer, gloves and face masks available for those that want to use them.
Private Service will be held on Friday, May 7, 2020 at 10:00 am. We will be posting a fb live stream of the service for those who want to attend the service online. Close friends and family are welcome to stop by Cliff Braker’s house on Friday after the service. We ask you to abide by social distancing. Light refreshments will be available.
