It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Melanie Vincent on December 21st, 2019 from a tragic vehicle accident.
In a bid to avoid the devastation of World Wars, her Grandfather chose to relocate the Ulliac family to Canada, the land of new beginnings and opportunity.
Melanie was born in 1933 to a family of ten siblings, all of whom started out their lives in the town of Gourin, Alberta named after the town of origin from which they came in Brittany, France. Melanie is survived by her brothers Raymond, Paul and Alcide Ulliac and is preleased by her siblings Margaret, Madelaine, MarieAnne, Laurent, Emile, Aurelle and Raymond.
Melanie married Roland Vincent in 1952, they had six children; Daniel, Denis, Mariline, Lorraine, Ronald and Marc. Melanie has 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Melanie and her husband were devoted parents who always put the needs of their family and friends above all else. Melanie cherished and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Never one to stay still, she volunteered her time by knitting caps for newborns at the Grey Nuns hospital, last count was well over 200. She found great joy in to receiving thank you pictures and correspondence from the new mothers who were privileged to receive them. Throughout her life, Melanie was integral part of her church and community, devoted much of her time to initiates that were focused on helping those that were less fortunate. She was loved by all, always had a positive view on life and a contagious smile, a true Angel.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on December 26, 2019 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral home. 4820 Meridian Street, Edmonton, AB.
A Funeral mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on December 27, 2019 at St. Thomas D’Aquin Church. 8410 89 St NW, Edmonton, AB
