Alan Maedel – of Mitchell, formerly of Monkton, passed away surrounded by his family, at Stratford General Hospital on Saturday December 28, 2019 at the age of 69. Alan’s greatest love was his family. While he enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing pool, it was the time he spent with the people around him that mattered most. He never missed an opportunity to support his family or friends in their endeavours.
Alan was a devoted father to Chris (Liz), Jeff (Angela) and Lindsay (Andy) Zaferis. He was a doting grandpa to Henry, Evelyn, Elena and Niko. He was a cherished son of Betty Maedel and Carl Maedel (predeceased) and dear brother of Paul (Fern) Maedel, Liz (Tom) Goodyer, Colleen (Vince) Priestap. He will be fondly missed by his dog Lacey, his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Alan’s love of travelling, commitment to his family and his love of life, will be forever remembered.
Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories at Brenneman Funeral Home, 141 John Street, Atwood (519-356-2382), on Wednesday January 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Alan’s life will be held at the Elma Memorial Community Centre, 251 Main Street, Atwood on Thursday January 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gerald Luck officiating. Interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.
