Jacquelene Jackie Chegrinec Wednesday November 13th 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Jacquelene “Jackie” Chegrinec 69, of Lower Rose Bay, announces her passing on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, NS, after a battle with cancer .
Jackie’s life of fun and adventure started in Toronto in 1950 as the daughter of the late John and Daisy (Searle) Peers. After meeting the love of her life, Ivan, in 1964, they married in 1969 and started a family soon after. The family’s journey then took them to Montreal for 21 years and finally to Lunenburg in 2003 where Jackie and Ivan enjoyed life on the East Coast.
Jackie was highly creative with a passion for the arts including fiddling, costume design for the South Shore Players, painting and book illustration. She was a member of the « Painted Ladies » and enjoyed expressing herself on canvas. More recently, Jackie collaborated with her friend Jon Allen in illustrating and self publishing two children’s books “The Gobbles” and “The Mis-Adventures of Francis & Freddie Frog”.
Above all, Jackie was devoted to her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ivan Chegrinec, Lower Rose Bay; stepmother, Jean E. Stiles, Etobicoke, ON; daughters, Chantal Chegrinec (Niall Sookoo), London, UK, and Alexa Chegrinec (James Buteau), Lower Rose Bay; step-brother, Ted (Sharon) Stiles, Brampton, ON; beloved grandchildren, Zackary, Ely, Aiden and Sawyer. She was predeceased by her sister Wendy Stiver, Edmonton, AB.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many health care professionals involved with Jackie’s care. A special thank you to family physician, Dr Newton, the palliative care team, Dr Gowan & Kim Carlow-Berkeley, the nursing staff at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, and the VON nurses, for the dignity, respect and exceptional care, shown to Jackie towards the end of her life.
A gathering to celebrate Jackie’s life will be held on Saturday November 23, 2019 in Lunenburg, NS. Please contact alexachegrinec@gmail.com for details.
