Obituary of Helene Christel Bensler
Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Innisfree House, Kitchener on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the age of 88 years.
Reunited with her husband Otto (1994). Loving mother of Linda and Tom Szozda and Christa and Steve Wiersma. Adored Oma to Tyler, Alisha and Katrina Szozda and Nathan and Natalie Wiersma. Missed by her “furever friends” Marley and Jasper. Survived by many relatives, nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, Germany and the United States.
Predeceased by her parents Wilhelm and Berta Freitag, sisters Ilse, Erna, Irmi and brother Willy.
A heartfelt thank you to all the nurses, PSW’s, staff and volunteers at Innisfree House for their care, compassion and support to mom and our families. A special thank you to Dr. N.G. Pearce and the staff at Belmont Family Medicine. In deep appreciation to the staff and friends at Waterloo Heights for making Mom’s short time there so memorable for us all.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Helene with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, December 16, 2019 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, Decemeber 17, 2019 from 10:00 – 10:45a.m. at Trillium Lutheran Church, 22 Williw St., Waterloo, with service in the sanctuary at 11a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo following the reception.
