Williston, Hazel Bessie (nee Watling):
The family of Hazel regretfully announces her passing on Friday, December, 6, 2019 at Grand River Hospital. She was 87. Hazel is predeceased by her husband, Calvin (2002) and her three oldest children, Evan, Terry and Wendy.
Loving mother of Steve (Trudy), Jeff (Fran), Rick (Debbie), Todd (Ginny), Darryl and Calvin (Heidi). Cherished grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma. Also, predeceased by her 4 brothers, Harry, Arnold, Eldon and Byron, and 5 sisters, Lorna, Ruby, Christina, Leona and Margaret.
Mom was born Sept. 19, 1932 in Black River Bridge, New Brunswick, the eighth child of James T. D. and M. Ruth Watling. She married Calvin Clay Williston in 1949 and, together, they raised 9 children, first in New Brunswick and then later in New Hamburg, Ontario. Mom was the bedrock of the Williston family, and raised her children with faith, and to respect, love and enjoy the company of family and friends.
Mom was a member of St. George’s Anglican Church in New Hamburg for 52 years and participated in the Haysville Women’s Institute for many years. Mom loved watching her family grow and return to her side whenever possible.
Hazel’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral service will be held at St. George’s Forest Hill Anglican Church, 321 Fischer-Hallman Road, Kitchener, on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment at St. James Cemetery, New Hamburg on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 1 p.m.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the St. George’s Anglican Church, New Hamburg or Grand River Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
